The Better Business Bureau serving Southeast Louisiana
wants to encourage Accredited Businesses to use the BBB Accredited Business
logo, but properly. Many BBB Accredited Businesses are still using the outdated
CARE logo, or incorrectly using just the BBB torch. We want businesses to use
the most correct logo in the best possible ways. When used improperly, it could
cause confusion, misunderstanding, or even mistrust. Proper use of the BBB Accredited Business logo
distinguishes your business from your competitor by demonstrating your
commitment to truth in advertising, assurance that your business will stand
behind its product or work, and a commitment to supporting the BBB’s work of
advancing trust in the marketplace.
BBB Accredited Businesses are authorized to use the BBB
Accredited Business seal (it always says Accredited Business, rather than just
the BBB torch alone) in various media. Some such uses are newspapers,
periodicals, yellow pages, directories, flyers, brochures, direct mail, yard
signage, billboards, posters, television, radio, on-hold messages, business
documents, business cards, business vehicles, and many other imaginative, authorized
uses. For oral or text instances when
the graphic is not used, the expression “BBB Accredited Business” may be used, but
qualifiers such as “longtime,” or “proud member” should not be used. Businesses are allowed to state their current
BBB rating in a simple, factual statement.
It must obviously be accurate.
BBB Accredited Business logos are available in vertical
and horizontal orientation, as should only be reproduced in black or “BBB Blue”
(PMS 7469). In accordance with policy and style guidelines, the minimum
allowable size is where BBB is no less than 1/8” tall. There is a different
seal for use in Yellow Page directories, or other ads where space is at a
minimum and/or printing/paper quality is low.
If you would like that version, please contact the BBB.
It is important to note that there is only one
authorized use of the BBB Accredited Business logo approved for online
use. Simply, adding the logo to your
website is not acceptable. Because a
company’s website is an extension of their offline operation, BBB will approve
companies’ use of the seal online when it has been determined that they meet
all standards. The approved Accredited
Business seal for use online will and must link to the company’s BBB Reliability
Report. The code for that link is
provided to the company at the time they choose which version of the logo they
wish to use. Please contact the BBB for
more information on this particular use.
If you would like digital copies of the BBB Accredited
Business graphics for offline use, please contact the BBB at firstname.lastname@example.org, also if you
are interested in displaying your BBB Accreditation online, please contact us
so that we can begin the process and make the link available to you.
